Group trail running can be some of the most uplifting and empathic experiences. Conversations had during some these long trail runs (easily well over 10km) have helped me to form new directions and helped me heal from past events. Other group runs, like the 17 km trail run this painting is based on, I started off with the group, then slowly slipped into a place between the fast and slow groups, running soloing among the group, relaxing and joining the solitude and looking forward to reconnecting with everyone at the end. Running and art are becoming a bigger part of my healing and finding myself after a few major disruptions.
Mono Centre – Winter Trail Run was painted in the studio after a group trail in January 2017 on 9 x 12 sheet of 140lb (300g/m2) Strathmore Watercolour Paper.
